Man arrested for attempting to sexually assault a teen girl in Madera, police say

MADERA, Calif. (KFSN) -- A man has been arrested for attempted sexual assault after breaking into a home in Madera.

The Madera Police Department says that it received a call around 3 a.m. on Saturday, reporting an unknown man inside a home.

When officers arrived, they saw a man running away from the back of the home, leading them on a short pursuit.

43-year-old Hilario Morales-Santiago was arrested and booked into Madera County Jail on two felony charges.

The investigation into the incident showed that Morales-Santiago entered the home and attempted to commit a sexual act on a teen girl.

The girl woke up to find the suspect in her room and started yelling for him to leave. That's when she immediately called the police.

Morales-Santiago is known to the Madera Police Department through previous similar investigations.

Based on the suspect's history, the Madera Police Department believes there may be additional victims.
