The suspect, 42-year-old Nicholas Uribe, served as a probation officer in Madera County.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A murder-suicide investigation is underway in east-central Fresno after police found a man and woman dead from gunshot wounds inside a home Thursday afternoon.
A busted front window, an Amazon package left on the porch and a single candle remained outside the home on Fountain Way, signs of violence hours after the shooting.
Police said officers responded to reports of shots fired just before 4:30 p.m. Upon arriving, they discovered two people suffering from gunshot wounds inside the residence. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
According to police, 42-year-old Nicholas Uribe shot and killed 42-year-old Angelica Reyes before turning the gun on himself.
The person who called 911 reported hearing gunshots and told dispatchers the two were husband and wife.
The shooting prompted a large law enforcement response, with dozens of patrol vehicles converging on the neighborhood. The street remained blocked off for hours as investigators processed the scene.
"It was an unfortunate tragedy that happened," neighbor Ray Marin said. "Very, very sad."
Action News has learned that Uribe served as a probation officer in Madera County. An image from last year shows Uribe being recognized as employee of the quarter for his work in the Juvenile Services Division. A Madera County Probation vehicle remained parked in the driveway Friday.
Neighbor Robin Ploharz, who lives next to the couple's relatives, described the family as well-liked and said the violence came as a shock.
"Just came home at 4:30. Cops were here, CSI, everything I knew it was bad," Ploharz said.
"They're my next-door neighbors. Great people, good family, very sweet this was not expected," Ploharz said.
Neighbors tell us the two had at least one young child together, who authorities tell them is accounted for.
The investigation remains ongoing.
