Oceano Dunes to be temporarily closed following court ruling to protect endangered shorebird

On the Central Coast, Oceano Dunes will be temporarily closing starting Tuesday because of a court ruling that prohibits motor vehicle use.

That ruling was made to protect an endangered shorebird.

The temporary closure will apply to camping and off-highway vehicle use south of Arroyo Grande Creek.

It will remain in place until the Habitat Conservation Plan is complete and an Incidental Take Permit is issued.

Day use and vehicles will still be allowed north of Arroyo Grande Creek.
