MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- The Madera County Sheriff's Search and Rescue Team has responded to multiple emergency incidents over the past month, including a recent rescue involving an injured dirt bike rider.

On October 12, a dirt bike rider was hurt and used an iPhone to send a 911 text for help.

The message included the rider's location and said he had a back injury.

An official with the Sheriff's department was nearby and quickly responded.

Backup arrived, including the Sheriff's Search and Rescue, a California Highway Patrol helicopter, the U.S. Forest Service, and Sierra Ambulance.

Rescue crews found the rider had a serious spinal injury.

They used special equipment to lift him into the helicopter and flew him to a local hospital for treatment.
