Suspect arrested in Mexico for deadly Merced shooting, police say

MERCED, Calif. (KFSN) -- A suspect has been arrested in connection to a deadly shooting in Merced earlier this year.

The shooting happened on January 25 on Stuart Drive near West Avenue.

Police found 18-year-old Miguel Gaeta suffering from gunshot wounds. He was declared dead at the scene.

Authorities identified 20-year-old Moises Reyes and learned that he was in Mexico.

Multiple agencies in Mexico worked to find Reyes and were ultimately able to take him into custody.

Police say Reyes is a Norteno gang member.
