Teen shot by Selma Police Officer, Fresno County Sheriff's Office investigating

SELMA, Calif. (KFSN) -- Two investigations are underway after a Selma police officer opened fire on a teenager.

The Fresno County Sheriff's office says the confrontation began just before 10 p.m. Saturday.

Gunfire was reported near Highway 43 and Nebraska Avenue.

Selma Police found the car believed to be involved in the shooting at the Walmart Shopping Center on Floral Avenue.

Investigators say a 16-year-old inside the vehicle got out and ran.

An officer fired their weapon, hitting the teen, who was taken to the hospital for treatment.

At last check, the young suspect was in fair condition.

The Fresno County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident.
