Some evacuation orders lifted in Tulare County as KNP Complex Fire containment grows

TULARE COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- Evacuations orders were lifted on Saturday morning from some neighborhoods in Tulare County as control on the KNP Complex Fire grows.

The wildfire has burned almost 86,000 acres across Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park.

Firefighters now have 20% containment on the blaze.

That's a 9% jump from earlier in the day.

Fire officials say they've slowed down most of the flames' forward progress and are now reinforcing containment lines.

The Tulare County Sheriff's Office announced that residences on Hammond, Crest, and Sierra King along Mineral King Road, as well as along Sierra Drive (Highway 198) from Mineral King Road, north to the entrance to Sequoia National Park, (NOT including Sycamore Drive), are now under evacuation warnings, not orders.

Several other evacuation orders and warnings remain in effect across Tulare and Fresno counties.

The fire has destroyed more than a dozen homes since it started about a month ago.
