MADERA, Calif. (KFSN) -- A Valley family is grappling with the possibility that they may lose their 19-year-old family member after a car crash in Madera County.
The crash happened Tuesday night around 10 p.m. at Avenue 17 and Road 28 and a half.
Madera CHP says they believe an 18-year-old driver in a Chevy Malibu ran a stop sign and collided with a Jeep.
The 18-year-old died at the scene.
19-year-old Bobby Criado was a passenger in the Chevy and was airlifted to the hospital with major injuries, including to his brain.
His family says Bobby's medical team has told them his injuries are not likely to be survivable.
His brother says their family is struck with heartbreak.
"It was not surprising to see how many people showed up for him... he's a hero," Raymond Criado Jr. said.
Bobby is an organ donor. His family says he is now going through tests to help others.
They say it's a final testament to his character of helping anyone in need.
His family has set up a GoFundMe to help alleviate emotional and financial stress.
