Woman's body pulled from canal in west central Fresno, police say

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- An investigation is underway after a woman was found dead in a canal in west central Fresno.

It happened before midnight Sunday in the area of Nielsen and Hughes.

Police say a passerby saw the woman in the canal and pulled her out.

That's when the person called 911.

Officers blocked off the area so that they could investigate the scene.

There is no word on how she ended up in the water. She has not been identified.
