Cattle truck driver dies in collision with school bus near Hilmar
No students were on the school bus when CHP said it collided with a cattle truck on Highway 165 south of Hilmar.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- CHP investigators say a 33-year-old cattle truck driver died in a head on collision with a school bus near Hilmar in Merced County. We're told he wasn't wearing a seatbelt.

Matthew Melvin Selby has been identified as the driver of the cattle truck. The crash happened Thursday morning. The CHP said Selby was in the wrong lane when he collided head on with the school bus.

Roxanne Boecken, 57, didn't have any kids on board her school bus and was taken to a nearby hospital with moderate injuries.

Parents along the school bus route tell us Boecken hadn't picked up any kids yet. But was on her way to a nearby town to pick up kids and bring them to Hilmar area schools. Nearby parents say they're grateful no children were hurt.

Investigators haven't released the cause of the crash and won't say if drugs or alcohol are a factor. Four calves on board the cattle truck also died in the collision.
