Man killed, 7-year-old girl injured after shooting outside Selma home

SELMA, Calif. (KFSN) -- Police caution tape and multiple bullet holes are a haunting reminder of the deadly violence that rang out in a quiet Selma neighborhood Sunday night.

"A little after nine o'clock, things were calming down in the neighborhood and then out of nowhere about 10-15 shots. We knew it was close because it was loud."

Neighbor David Rodriguez was inside his home when 32-year-old Steven Falcon was fatally shot while in his garage. A seven-year-old girl who was in front of the house was also shot in the leg.

Rodriguez says he immediately went outside and saw how serious the situation was.

"We heard a car, we didn't see the car. We heard the car screech by," he said. "We just don't get involved, people here get involved...I mean, you got seven-year-old girls getting shot. They're crossing the line already."

Detectives have not released any suspect descriptions but say they're looking for a light-colored small sedan, and clues online could help lead them to the person who pulled the trigger.

"There's just been people on social media already stating that they were aware of who it was and whether they are or not we invite them to contact us so we may investigate that," said Selma Police Chief Myron Dick.

The girl was taken to a nearby hospital and is expected to survive. The family is expected to hold a candlelight vigil in front of the house.
