Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Drue Tranquill was carted off the field early in Sunday's 16-13 win against the Cincinnati Bengals with an ankle injury, and early indications are that he suffered a break, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Tranquill, who started alongside rookie Kenneth Murray, had his leg immediately placed in an air cast and appeared to be in excruciating pain as he was wheeled off the field.

The Chargers ruled him out for the rest of the game, and Nick Vigil initially replaced Tranquill.

Coach Anthony Lynn didn't have any further details on Tranquill's injury after the win but said, "I don't think he's coming back any time soon."

The Chargers were already without injured safety Derwin James this season and were minus two starting offensive linemen in Week 1 (center Mike Pouncey, right guard Trai Turner).
