The Porterville Fire Department says it has completed its investigation into a mobile home fire that claimed the lives of four children and one adult.
Investigators say the December 7 fire started inside the living area of the trailer and spread rapidly.

The victims were identified as 18‑month‑old William, two‑year‑old Buckley, three‑year‑old Charlie, five‑year‑old Ruby, and 34‑year‑old Cody Schuler.
When firefighters arrived, they encountered heavy fire conditions.
Investigators say the trailer’s limited size and open floor plan contributed to the fire’s rapid growth and extreme heat.
That significantly reduced the time available for the family to recognize the danger and escape.
The fire has been classified as an accident.
Investigators found no evidence of intentional ignition or any suspicious circumstances, but because of the damage, they could not determine the source of the fire.
