Waymo is recalling almost 4,000 of its robotaxis

Waymo is recalling almost 4,000 of its robotaxis, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The self-driving software in these vehicles were not able to recognize construction zones and ramp closures.
Officials say there were several instances in San Francisco and Phoenix where the robotaxis drove into zones that were closed, posing a potential crash hazard.
According to NHTSA, all of the recalled vehicles have this technological glitch.
A spokesperson for Waymo says the company, "Identified an area of improvement regarding performance around freeway construction zones."
Waymo says it "continues to operate its service as normal on surface streets in all cities."
