What we know about the In-N-Out Burger shooting suspect

Some details are emerging about the man suspected of opening fire outside an In-N-Out Burger location in Idaho over the weekend, killing three people, as a motive in the mass shooting remains under investigation.
The suspect in Saturday's shooting -- 24-year-old Chad Williams -- died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound after police say he opened fire near a busy shopping area in Twin Falls.
Williams attended the College of Southern Idaho in 2022 and 2023 but did not graduate with a degree, a college spokesperson told ABC News.
He was a senator in the college's student government, the spokesperson confirmed, until he was impeached from that role in February 2023.
Elijah Moseley, who served on the school's student government at the time, told ABC Boise affiliate KIVI the impeachment was "procedural" and that they were freeing up a seat for someone who was more engaged.
Moseley told the station that he and Williams fell out of touch in the years since, calling the news of the shooting "shocking."
The Twin Falls Police Department said investigators are "confident" the suspect acted alone.
Three people were killed and seven others injured, some critically, in the shooting, police said. An In-N-Out employee was among those killed, the company confirmed.
An armed off-duty Idaho state trooper and a private citizen confronted the shooter, likely driving him from the scene and avoiding further casualties, according to Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks.
A motive for the shooting remains under investigation. Hicks said the suspected gunman's family members are cooperating with the investigation.
Police were still interviewing witnesses and asked anyone with information to come forward in the wake of the shooting.
The FBI said it was aware of the situation and was offering assistance to local law enforcement, according to an agency spokesman. The agency also asked people to submit any video, audio or still images that may have captured the shooting.
