Hundreds attend annual peace march

FLINT Genesee County Committee for Community Peace organizers also went to Wilson Park to unveil a statute of Ghandi, which is a symbol of universal peace.

"We have Christians, Indians, Muslims, you name it, we have it here," said Peace Marcher Anjali Misra.

To spread Ghandi's message of non-violent peace keeping were people of all backgrounds and even state politicians.

Protesters against the statue also stood by to express why they believed Ghandi was not as saintly as many claim.

"Two hundred and fifty million people even today suffer because of Ghandi's policies," said Raj Kamble, who is against the Ghandi statue. "He was against humanity, against equality. How come they're not talking about his views on economics and all that?"

Still, the protestors didn't put a damper on what peace keepers came to share in Wilson Park.

"I really feel bad for them, that's all I will say," said Committee for Community Peace member Anjali Misra.

The peace marchers say the statue is just another key step in their local peace efforts and the group plans on unifying multicultural groups in order to make Wilson Park a Peace Park.
