HANFORD, Calif. (KFSN) -- Two people were rushed to the hospital Friday evening after being shot in Hanford, authorities said.

The Hanford Police Department says a 30-year-old and 17-year-old were shot near Redington and Scott Streets around 7 p.m.

The two victims were transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Police have not released any suspect information yet, but investigators believe the shooting is gang-related.

Hanford-native Humberto Suarez says he was just yards away when a gang fight turned violent. He was trying to get into his house for cover when he heard the shots.

"They just started throwing gang signs at each other and from there they started shooting," he said.

Detectives say the 30-year-old man was shot in the abdomen while the 17-year-old was shot in the leg. Before paramedics arrived, Suarez says the man fainted from pain and the teenager writhed in agony.

The identities of the victims have not been released.

"His leg was severely damaged," he said. "It was bleeding a lot - like it was just dangling. His ankle was completely destroyed."

Police say they're not sure if the suspect ran away or drove off in a car, but they're collecting evidence from witnesses.

"We're looking at video surveillance from the local store to see if we can identify some suspects at this time," Sgt. Justin Vallin explained.
