FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The North Valley principal who was attacked on campus earlier this month returned to school for the first time on Monday.

Police say two suspects used a box cutter to slash the face of Gustine Elementary's principal in front of some students on December 4. Ismael Munoz was treated for a laceration across his cheek. The district superintendent says Munoz returned to work on Monday and is doing well.

Heightened security measures were put in place after the attack, including new procedures for parents picking up their children. Those measures remain in effect, and an extra officer is assigned to the campus.

Authorities are still searching for the suspects. One is described as about 5'8" tall, and police have revealed he was wearing a San Francisco 49ers jersey with the number 7 on it. The other is about 5'1" tall. Both are believed to be in their 20s or 30s.
