Man killed in Porterville crash identified
Action News is learning more about the people involved in a deadly crash in the South Valley.

PORTERVILLE, Calif. (KFSN) -- Action News is learning more about the people involved in a deadly crash in Porterville.

Porterville police say 48-year-old Jose Barron failed to slow down for backed-up traffic at about 5 p.m. Thursday on Highway 65 south of Scranton Avenue. His vehicle rear-ended a Lexus, sending it into the path of a big rig truck.

The man driving the Lexus, 41-year-old Gregorio Salas, died. His teenage passenger is hospitalized in critical condition in Fresno.

The big rig driver had minor injuries.

Barron, the driver who started the collision, was not hurt. There is no word yet on whether he will face charges.
