MERCED, Calif. (KFSN) -- A Merced man has been taken off life support after a shooting this weekend, and now police are investigating the case as a murder.

The shooting happened at a home on Cornell Court near Notre Dame Avenue early Sunday morning. Officers said a young man who lives there threw a party while his parents were out of town. Some gang members showed up, and an argument broke out. Moments later, someone opened fire, hitting 25-year-old Matthew Galvan multiple times.

"He was medi-flighted to Mercy (Medical Center in Merced), then they transported him to Memorial in Modesto. Over the course of the weekend we did receive notice he had passed away," said Lt. Matt Williams, Merced Police Department.

Police arrested two juveniles this weekend who are considered suspects, but right now they're being held on probation violation charges as the investigation continues.
