Suspect in custody after chase with deputies ends in crash in Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A suspect is in custody after a chase with deputies ended in a crash on Friday night in Fresno.

The collision happened just after 9:30 near Palm and Sierra.

Investigators say the pursuit began because of a traffic violation nearly five miles away near Shields and Hughes.

At one point, the driver let a passenger our before running at red light and crashing into an S-U-V.

The suspect lost control and hit a fire hydrant, power pole, and then a tree.

The two people in other SUV reported only minor pain.

Deputies arrested the suspect.

He was taken to the hospital for treatment and will later be booked into jail.
