Pictures of Kent Haws at home with his family and on the job at the Tulare County Sheriff's Office filled the walls at Friday's funeral service. Almost 2-thousand people, friends, family and members of law enforcement celebrated the life of a man they say was full of duty, respect and love.
Seam Wright, one of Haws' close friends told the crowd about the last time the two friends were together. The two encouraged others to always tell those close to you that you love them.
"When I held him goodbye that's the thing about life we never know when we're saying our last goodbyes," said Sean Wright, Kent Haws' friend.
Haws worked at the Tulare County Sheriff's Office for ten years. The last three on the "step" team, which is the county's version of a swat team.
He was shot and killed last Monday while he was investigating a carjacking on road 156 north of Ivanhoe. He was 38 years old.
Haws leaves behind his wife Francis and their 12, 7 and 1 year old sons.
"I'm so outraged today I'm so angry, that a fine young man like Kent could lose his life in such a callous senseless manner," said Bill Wittman, Tulare County Sheriff.
