Fresno State Football mascot handler has passed away

Fresno, CA While the Fresno State Football team prepared for a big game, the live mascot was here at home, helping to honor his handler.

Bulldog fans may know Debbye Scott's dog better than the woman.

Four years ago, her dog 'Norman" took the role of "Victor E", at Fresno State athletic games.

Scott was on the Fresno Police force for 19 years before she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

Family members say she was courageous until she passed away a week ago.

Dana Villines, Scott's Partner said: "In the face of adversity always look forward and know you can conquer. Strength from within no matter what the obstacles stay strong and stay true to you."

Scott's life partner Dana Villines said fans can expect to see "Victor E", at future sporting events.

The team showed a tribute to Scott during halftime at Saturday's Hawaii game and they'll do it again at next week's home game.
