Sports Car Club Of America host a day of racing

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Dozens of drivers put the pedal to the metal at the Fresno Fairgrounds this weekend.

The Fresno chapter of the Sports Car Club Of America hosted a day of racing. The cars just have to pass an inspection and be wider than they are tall -- but other than that, every type is welcome.

Organizers say most of the vehicles are used every day by their owners and are not special race cars. But this is a chance to really see what they can do.

"Everyone comes out, they get to run the car hard, you really can't do that on street, you come out here run it as hard as you want. If you go out of control, there's cones to hit really minimal danger out here," said Ahla Yang, Event Chair.

You do have to pay a membership and event fee to take part in the races, but spectators are invited to watch for free.
