Canna-Hub commercial business in Mendota bringing a new idea to the pot business

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The Cantaloupe Center of the world could soon be known for a different type of cash crop. After Mendota's City Council recently approved to allow a massive commercial marijuana business to set up shop in the town's industrial area.

"Frankly there's not a lot of companies coming to small towns like this and offering up the type of revenues that Canna-Hub is giving the City of Mendota," said Canna-Hub CEO Tim McGraw.

McGraw, founder, and CEO of Canna-Hub is developing two cannabis-related properties in California -- including a 100,000 square foot facility in Mendota.

His company plans to transform this old packing shed into a state of the art campus that will sublease space within the warehouse to multiple pot-related businesses.

Everything weed related except for the retail sale of marijuana and outdoor grows will be done out of this location.

"That includes tissue culture, nursery, indoor grows, greenhouse grows, manufacturing, distribution, transport, third-party testing labs and any ancillary businesses," said McGraw.

As part of its agreement with the city, Canna-Hub promises to hire up to 100 positions with the potential of pumping $800,000 into the city's general fund.

"Council is optimistic about it. I'm cautiously optimistic about it. It could have potentially revenue enhancing benefits for us but we're going to have to wait and see until it's fully operational," said City Manager Vince Dimaggio.

According to McGraw that should not take long. Canna-Hub plans to break ground in the coming weeks and start supplying the state with legal pot as early as this summer.

"We'll be one of the first projects up and running in a state of this size but as far as the actual operation probably in June or July of this year.
