Children First: Career Technical Education
FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Some students will attend college; others will go straight to the workforce. What are their job options? ABC30 airs a half-hour special on programs helping high school students go from the classroom to a career. Studies show only 25% of students who attend a four-year college or university actually complete their degree. Finding a career is crucial. This special includes a closer look at Central Valley Career Tech Night. Students weld pipes, operate cranes and get career advice from experts in a variety of fields. ABC30 visits a Madera County campus where students are computer experts. Watch Duncan Polytechnical High students train for medical careers. Meet Culinary Arts students who serve up tasty treats in Reedley. Explore a local Arts and Engineering charter school where 98% of seniors graduate!
Children First is a year-long effort focusing on the challenges, problems and opportunities facing our youth in Central California. The program shows how the average person can make a difference in a child's life and highlights local organizations that work with kids. The Children First campaign includes half-hour programs like "Career Technical Education," thirty-second public service announcements, and special stories on Action News.
