FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Neighbors heard the shots loud and clear. A series of bullets echoing across H Street in the middle of the day, but nobody can accurately describe to police what the shooter looked like.
"It kind of happened so fast. People aren't giving us the clearest picture of what they saw, that is why we need to contact as many people as possible," Tony Botti.
Orange Cove Police heard the 911 calls and found the victim on the sidewalk.
They say the 40-year-old man was already deceased and the investigation was handed over to the sheriff's office.
"We are just keeping all options open as to the motive again since we are so early on it's going to come down to--identifying our victim looking at his history."
Family members say they are baffled by who could have done this. They say the victim's name was Pedro Matancillas. He stayed in the area and helped neighbors with odd jobs.
"There might have been multiples--again we are still trying to clarify if there was a car involved."
The family is waiting for more information.
An autopsy is scheduled for later this week. This homicide is the citys fifth of the year.
