Live updates: Winter storm to impact Central CA for several days

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A major shift in the weather in Central California is on the way, bringing strong winds, heavy rain, and mountain snow that could impact travel and power lines.
Rain is expected to last through the weekend and possibly into next week.

Clovis officials, residents preparing ahead of expected rain
The City of Clovis is bracing for more cold and rainy conditions on Monday after several days of stormy weather in the Central Valley.
Clovis Police Corporal Jacob Mulhern said they have seen many downed trees, standing water filling streets and more accidents than usual since Thursday.
Free sandbags are being provided for residents. The sandbags are available at the Clovis Corporation Yard at 155 N. Sunnyside Ave.

China Peak gets 4 inches of new snow ahead of opening day

The China Peak Mountain Resort is providing Action News with a look at the snowfall earlier today.
The resort says it saw around 4 inches of new snow as of this afternoon and expects upwards of 12 inches over the next 24 hours.
China Peak is now waiting to see what tomorrow brings as it ramps up for opening day.
If their weather and snowmaking cooperate, the resort is optimistic it will open on November 28, the Friday after Thanksgiving.

Flood advisory in effect for Fresno and Madera counties Saturday night
Portions of Fresno and Madera counties are under a flood advisory until 10:15 p.m. Saturday.
The National Weather Service Hanford says the expected excessive rainfall will cause minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
The cities of Fresno and Clovis are listed as locations that will experience the flooding.
