FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A major shift in the weather in Central California is on the way, bringing strong winds, heavy rain, and mountain snow that could impact travel and power lines.
Rain is expected to last through the weekend and possibly into next week.

Some showers begin across Central California, heavier in Foothills
Some parts of Central California are already dealing with showers Thursday morning.
Rain chances are expected to be at their highest Thursday afternoon, between 1 and 5 pm.
There is concern for flooding on the East end of the Valley and Foothill communities.
If you're traveling up to the mountains, a Winter Storm Warning blankets areas above 8,000 feet.

The utility company advises those who are at risk of losing their power to have backup food, flashlights and batteries and charge all devices before the storm.
