Flood advisory in effect for Fresno and Madera counties Saturday night

Portions of Fresno and Madera counties are under a flood advisory until 10:15 p.m. Saturday.

The National Weather Service Hanford says the expected excessive rainfall will cause minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

The cities of Fresno and Clovis are listed as locations that will experience the flooding.

Fresno city crews are in storm response mode actively mobilized and tackling calls as they come in.

From the highways to the city streets, slick roadways and localized flooding made for a hazardous commute on Friday.

Caltrans crews are now working 12-hour shifts to ensure a smooth drive on local highways.

The California Highway Patrol typically reports an increased volume in crashes during wet weather, warning drivers to take precautions.

Over 25 city workers are now on standby to respond specifically to downed trees another dozen for other storm-related calls.

Wet weather and slick roads, drivers urged to slow down while traveling

Slick roads across the valley floor due to recent rainfall have local agencies and residents encouraging drivers to slow down.

California Highway Patrol officers say that with the recent rain, there is an increased risk of crashes.

According to the CHP, by 1 p.m. Friday, there were about 14 reported crashes in Tulare County.

That is double the same time period as the day before.
