Fire officials investigating suspicious house fire in Madera County

MADERA COUNTY (KFSN) -- Madera County fire investigators are looking into the cause of an early more house fire just south of Chowchilla. The fire was reported just after two Thursday morning at a home on Road 18 3/4 and Avenue 24.

When fire crews arrived they found the home partially engulfed in flames. No one was living in the home at the time and there was no electricity or gas to the home.

Officials are now investigating the cause of the fire as suspicious after finding three spots where the fire started, which is leading investigators to believe this is arson. Investigators also found a flammable liquid inside the home.

An old marijuana grow was also found in the backyard of the home. It's not yet known if that is connected in any way to the fire.

Fire officials will now speak with neighbors to see if they saw anything suspicious at the home in the day or hours leading up to this fire.
