FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- The accident happened at the intersection of Nebraska and West around 5:30 a.m. Monday. Officials say the female driver of a white car stopped at the stop sign, and then proceeded into the path of a truck. The woman was killed.
Witnesses at the scene believe the woman mistook the intersection for a four-way stop. "There's a lot of intersections like this in Fresno County -- where we have one direction of travel stops and the other does not. This is another example of why people have to stop and take that into consideration. Do not assume you have a four-way stop," said Sgt. Leonard Sherman, CHP.
Officers believe the woman was on her way to work at the time of the crash. She has been identified as 47-year-old Kamaljit Liddar.
The driver of the truck was hurt, but is expected survive.
