1 person hospitalized following shooting in Fresno's Tower District, police say

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A person is in the hospital with a gunshot wound following a shooting in Fresno's Tower District Sunday evening.

According to Fresno Police, around 6:50 p.m., two groups of people were fighting in the area of Olive Avenue and Lucerne Lane.

Approximately 10 rounds of gunfire were exchanged between the two groups, striking one person.

The person then drove themselves to Second Street and Orleans Avenue in Southeast Fresno, where they were located by police.

The person was taken to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment and is expected to survive

No one else was injured.

Police say no one is in custody and are searching for those involved in the shooting. It is unknown if the altercation was gang-related.

The shooting remains under investigation.
