1 person killed, multiple hospitalized following 3-vehicle crash near Hanford, CHP says

KINGS COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- A man has died following a three-vehicle crash near Hanford on Sunday afternoon.

According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded to a crash just after 3 p.m. off Highway 198 east of 7th Avenue.

When they arrived, officers discovered that a man driving a Toyota Tacoma with three passengers was traveling west on Highway 198 when he allowed his vehicle to go over a paved center divider and enter the eastbound lanes, colliding with a Honda Civic.

The impact of the crash pushed the Civic to collide into a Toyota Corolla that was carrying two people, also traveling east, causing the driver of the Corolla to lose control.

The Corolla overturned and rolled into a field on the south side of Highway 198.

The passengers in the Tacoma were taken to Adventist Medical Center in Hanford and the two people in the Corolla were taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center in Visalia for treatment.

The driver of the Civic died from his injuries in the ambulance on the way to Kaweah Delta.

Authorities say alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be factors in this crash.
