20-year-old man hospitalized following shooting in central Fresno, police say

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A 20-year-old man has been taken to the hospital following a shooting in central Fresno on Wednesday night.

Police say the shooting happened in the area of Fresno Street and Belmont Avenue.

Investigators say the victim was later found with a gunshot wound to the thigh area a few blocks from where the reported shooting occurred.

He was taken to the hospital and with severe injuries, but is expected to live.

No suspect information is available at this time.

Frenso police say they are looking for additional witnesses and surveillance footage around the area.
