12-year-old boy injured in fatal moped crash in northwest Fresno has leg amputated

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Action News has learned more about the injuries a 12-year-old suffered while riding his moped that was hit by a vehicle in northwest Fresno.

That collision killed his 13-year-old cousin, Dominiq Puentes, who was also on the scooter.

The two boys were hit by a truck on May 1 at Bullard and Palm Avenues.

The mother of 12-year-old Jay Garcia says Jay suffered severe injuries, resulting in his lower leg being amputated.

While he remains in the hospital, his family has created a GoFundMe page for medical expenses and therapy costs.
