MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- Investigators say a car crash that killed two people in Madera County early Friday morning was the result of a carjacking.

The incident happened around 2 a.m. on southbound Highway 99 near Avenue 18 1/2. California Highway Patrol officials say the driver of a BMW somehow clipped the corner of a big rig, causing it to roll. Both passengers in the BMW were ejected and died at the scene.

Investigators say both people in the car were carjacking suspects out of Oakland.
