Abandoned home destroyed by fire in Madera County, officials say

MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- Crews are investigating what led to a house fire in Madera County.

It started around 1:30 am Tuesday at a home on Avenue 18 1/2 near Road 17.

Firefighters say a neighbor called for help.

They arrived to find the home fully involved with flames, and it was abandoned.

The home has been declared a total loss.

Madera County Fire was helped by the Chowchilla Women's Prison to take on the blaze.

The cause is under investigation.
