Agreement reached between Community Health, Aetna for Fresno Unified retirees

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Thousands of Fresno Unified retirees are once again able to access benefits with Community Health System.

An agreement was reached between Community and Aetna, restoring coverage for over 6,000 retirees.

A temporary resolution was found until February 20, but the new contract is now until December 31.

Some had to deal with canceled medical appointments and the denial of other essential services.

Fresno Unified also recently announced a new plan retirees can select for coverage in 2027. Leaders say it is similar to the self-funded plan they switched away from years ago.
