Chair from haunted Wolfe Manor up for auction

CLOVIS, Calif. (KFSN) -- Wolfe Manor served many purposes during its 92 years of existence.

Built near Clovis and Santa Ana in 1922 ,it was first a private home.

After the original owner died an untimely death, it was turned into a hospital and sanitarium, then a nursing home.

Eventually, Todd Wolfe bought the property in the late 90s and took it from haunted reputation to attraction.

Even before Wolfe purchased the manor, many believed the spirits of those who died in the building still haunted the halls.

"I bought it for a Halloween attraction called 'Scream if you can' that we ran for many years and I was a major skeptic then, I never believed in ghosts," said Wolfe.

Wolfe operated the haunted attraction until the city of Clovis forced him to shut it down in 2004 over neighbors' complaints. Then the home and its spirits took on a new life, Wolfe welcomed in ghost hunting shows and psychics.

"Like I said, the Halloween attraction closed, but then the TV shows started calling," said Wolfe. "From there it just got insane with all the different networks calling me, trying to get in to do an investigation at the Wolfe Manor."

In 2014, the manor was torn down after the city decided the old building was a public nuisance and not up to code.

Before a wrecking ball took down the old walls, Wolfe took some items from inside and the souls said to be tied to them, including an old upholstered chair that once belonged to a woman named Mary.

"From what we were told, she was a patient," said Wolfe. "My property on Clovis Avenue is and was the Clovis Sanitarium... We would be in Mary's room and you could just feel her presence.... I believe she's nice. You know, we have not had any negative experiences."

Wolfe put the chair up for bid on eBay by Friday afternoon and bids had reached over $6,000. For whoever buys the chair, Wolfe has one warning.

"She is with the chair," said Wolfe. "That's why on my eBay auction, I put I'm not responsible for any attachments."

If you want to welcome Mary and her chair, bidding continues through Sunday afternoon.
