24-year-old hospitalized after shooting in Merced County, deputies say

MERCED COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- An investigation is underway following a shooting in Merced County.

The Merced County Sheriff's Office says it happened around 8:45 am Friday in the area of Childs Avenue and D Street.

Officers say a 24-year-old man was involved in an argument that turned physical and led to the shooting.

He was shot in the abdomen and taken to the hospital.

Deputies are still searching for the gunman.
