Fire damages multiple units in Northwest Fresno condominium, officials say

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Several people are without a home following a fire in a two-story condominium in Northwest Fresno on Tuesday morning.

According to Fresno Fire, the fire broke out just before 11 a.m. at the Laguna Falls Condominiums off Ashlan Avenue, west of West Avenue.

When firefighters arrived, they found heavy smoke coming from multiple units in the building.

Crews confirmed that all the residents were safely evacuated before extinguishing the flames.

42 firefighters were called in to put out the fire due to the high temperatures and size of the fire.

Five units were damaged, displacing multiple residents.

Firefighters rescued several pets, including cats and dogs; however, one cat did not survive.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
