Fresno cancer survivor meets life-saving stem cell donor at runDisney event

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- An emotional moment this week for a Fresno cancer survivor included a little Disney magic.

Abby Hudak had a chance to meet the stem cell donor who saved her life.

The Fresno woman underwent a life-saving transplant in 2023.

This week, she met Lewis Haggerty of Scotland while in Florida for the 2026 "runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend" at the Walt Disney World resort.

The complete strangers found out they were a match through an online blood stem cell donor registry.

After many big hugs and conversations filled with deep gratitude, Abby and Lewis took part in a 5k run together Friday morning.

The 2026 "runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend" wraps up on Monday.

This year's theme is iconic Disney duos, with featured characters like Aladdin and Genie, Joy and Sadness and Nick and Judy.
