Fresno State getting over $4 million in funding to support job creation
Fresno State will get $4.36 million for the university's flagship innovation hub, The Forge.
FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Fresno State is set to get more than $4 million in funding aimed at supporting job creation and economic growth.
The investments were announced Wednesday through California's jobs first initiative.
It was revealed as state leaders, including Gov. Gavin Newsom, gathered in Solano County.
In total, $48.5 million will be awarded across 33 counties.
Fresno State will get $4.36 million for the university's flagship innovation hub, The Forge.

It will support startups in manufacturing, robotics, ag-tech and much more.
Newsom says it's part of the state's commitment to boost jobs.
"We launched this initiative officially in Fresno, California," Newsom said. "We've been up to the Redwood coast, we've been down the border, we've been all over the state of California, trying to reconcile that disparity.''
Newsom says the funds will support 20,000 new jobs and 18 projects.
