Funeral held for Merced County deputy who lost battle with cancer

MERCED, Calif. (KFSN) -- A funeral took place in the North Valley on Monday to honor a Merced County sheriff's deputy who lost his battle with cancer.

Lucas Hukill, 39, died last week from a rare form of cancer. The married father of three young girls was just diagnosed less than two months ago, but the cancer was already stage 4.

Last week, a procession of law enforcement vehicles led the way as Hukill's body arrived at a funeral home. His funeral took place Monday morning at the Christian Life Center in Merced.

Hukill had been a member of the Merced County Sheriff's Office since 2008.
