
MERCED, Calif. (KFSN) -- A man is dead after being hit by an Amtrak train while riding an electric scooter in Merced.
It happened around 7:30 pm Monday near Glen and Santa Fe avenues.
Action News spoke to friends and family of the victim, who identified him as 51-year-old Richard Candy Luvian.
His brother says he had his struggles, but recently got a job working at a homeless shelter.
When Action News stopped by the crash site Tuesday, there was a growing memorial of candles as well as a flower left for the victim.
