Housing Watch: Beyond Housing Foundation once again taking applications
FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- For some homebuyers, a $10,000 boost could make the difference in being able to get the keys to a home.
That is the maximum available under a down payment assistance program through the Beyond Housing Foundation.
"The goal is to make sure that low-income and moderate-income families, who otherwise qualify, but just need a little funding to close the gap and realize their homeownership dreams," says Tiffany Mangum, Beyond Housing Foundation Executive Director.
A similar program helped 35 families get into a home a year ago.
The Beyond Housing Foundation is taking applications once again. You can work with your lender or realtor.
Mangum says families making 80% of the median income qualify for the most aid, the $10,000.
"Roughly, you're looking at a family of four making less than a total household income of about $60-70,000 or so," she said.
Mangum says the non-profit's mission is to empower families living on housing assistance.
"Help empower them around their educational goals and workforce goals," she said. "It's all about economic mobility."
Seeing the families moving into their own house is emotional.
"It was a little bit of a tear-jerker," Mangum said. "For many of the families we are serving, homeownership was just not in the cards for them."
