List of 9/11 memorial events taking place across the Central Valley

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Here's a list of memorials and ceremonies taking place across the Valley to honor the lives lost during the attacks on September 11, 2001.

FRESNO COUNTY

EVENT: Clovis 9/11 Memorial Remembrance Ceremony
TIME: 8:30AM
ADDRESS: Never Forget Lane, Clovis
INFORMATION: Citizens, first responders, and military personnel will gather at the site to perform a ceremony steeped in tradition, paying tribute to the brave spirits who perished. Guest speaker is Erik O. Ronningen. Erik was the last person to escape the South Tower of the World Trade Center on September 11th before it collapsed. After the dust settled, he immersed himself in the critical task of ascertaining who, and who did not survive. To facilitate this, he developed a photo-victim identification database reconstituted from the damaged World Trade Center access control system and delivered the results to the 9/11 Commission.

EVENT: Fresno Annual 9/11 Ceremony Remembrance

INFORMATION: Teens That Care is proud to host our 6th Annual 9/11 Ceremony of Remembrance to honor Todd Beamer and all those who lost their lives in the tragic terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. We invite the community to join us for this meaningful event as we remember and honor the bravery and sacrifices of those affected by the 9/11 attacks. We are proud to announce our Keynote speaker, Colonel Rob Swertfager. Colonel Swertfager grew up in the Bay Area but calls Fresno his home. He graduated from Clovis West High School and attended Fresno State University. Tigger scrambled his F16 on the morning of 9/11 to intercept a Thailand Air 747, which was classified for several years, and heading for San Francisco.

EVENT: FCSS 9/11 Art + Poetry Contest
TIME: 5:30 pm
ADDRESS: Clovis Veterans Memorial Building
INFORMATION: Fresno County Superintendent of Schools. This is a very moving event which will recognize the top 10 finalists of the student art, poetry and logo contests. The top three in each category will be presented with awards and the grand-prize winners will receive a laptop. In their submissions, students were asked to look back at the defining moment of 9/11 in our nation's history and honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice, as well as how our nation came together in the aftermath of this tragic event. The evening will also include a guest speaker, Erik O. Ronningen, who was on the 71st floor of the North Tower on Sept. 11, 2001, when it was struck. After an incredible, miraculous journey down the dangerous and smoke-filled building, he was the last person to make it out of the South Tower alive. The event is free and open to the public.

EVENT: Fresno State 9/11 Blood Drive
DATE: Monday, September 15 - Thursday, September 18
TIME: 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm (Monday) and 9 am - 4 pm (Tuesday-Thursday)
ADDRESS: Fresno State
INFORMATION: The Richter Center, in partnership with the Central California Blood Center, will host a campus blood drive from Monday, Sept. 15 through Thursday, Sept. 18 in remembrance of 9/11. This four-day event invites students, faculty, staff and community members to give the gift of life while honoring those who were lost and the heroes who served. On Monday, Sept. 15, donations will be accepted from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the mobile unit, by the Speakers Platform. On Tuesday, Sept. 16, and Wednesday, Sept. 17, donations will be accepted from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Resnick Student Union Room 106, as well as at mobile units by the Speakers Platform and Memorial Gardens. On Thursday, Sept. 18, donations will be accepted from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Resnick Student Union Room 106, with mobile units by the Speakers Platform and Memorial Gardens.

TULARE COUNTY

EVENT: Tulare County 9/11 Memorial Blood Drive
TIME: 6 am - 6 pm
ADDRESS: Tulare Veterans Memorial Building
INFORMATION: On September 11, 2001, first responders ran toward danger to save lives. On September 11, 2025, our Central Valley community will do the same-by rolling up their sleeves. The 19th Annual Tulare Rotary 9/11 Memorial Blood Drive, hosted by the Central California Blood Center in partnership with the Tulare Rotary Club, stands as one of the region's most meaningful traditions. Held in honor of the lives lost, and in celebration of those saved through blood donation, the event transforms remembrance into action. The Remembrance Ceremony begins at 7:00 AM, featuring a presentation of colors, honor guard, memorial bell ringing, and a firefighter's prayer. The blood drive itself runs from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. All donors will receive a commemorative 9/11 T-shirt and sponsor coupons (while supplies last).

EVENT: TCSO 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony
TIME: 8 am
ADDRESS: TCSO Headquarters -- 833 S. Akers Street
INFORMATION: Sheriff Boudreaux invites you to attend a formal ceremony on 9/11 as we remember the victims, survivors, and those who responded 24 years ago.

MADERA COUNTY

EVENT: Madera 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony
TIME: 9 am
ADDRESS: Madera Courthouse Park
INFORMATION: This memorial is dedicated to honoring both local, State, and Federal firefighters, as well as the brave firefighters who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.

MERCED COUNTY

EVENT: UC Merced 9/11 Stair Climb
TIME: 8 am
ADDRESS: UC Merced, Sustainability Research & Engineering Building Outer Stairs
INFORMATION: Join the UC Merced Police Department in honoring the bravery and sacrifice of our first responders on September 11, 2025. Stair climb challenge. Climb in honor of the courage and sacrifice of our first responders. This symbolic stair climb honors the 72 law enforcement officers and 343 firefighters who gave their lives that day.

KINGS COUNTY

EVENT: NAS Lemoore 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony
TIME: 8 am
ADDRESS: NAS Lemoore
INFORMATION: Join us as we honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001. This special ceremony, hosted by Chief Selectee Class 132, will include: Remarks by XO CAPT Jeffry Findlay, SAR Flyover, Color Guard & Rifle Team.
