Suspect wanted after woman shot, killed in domestic violence incident in Madera County, deputies say
MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- A 38-year-old woman has died after a domestic violence incident led to a shooting at a Denny's restaurant in Madera County on Sunday, the Madera County Sheriff's Office says.
Around 11:30 a.m., the agency received reports of multiple gunshots being fired at Denny's off Avenue 18 1/2 and Golden State Boulevard, west of Highway 99.
When deputies arrived, they discovered the victim with multiple gunshot wounds and provided medical aid until emergency medical services arrived.
She was taken to the hospital but later died from her injuries.
Her identity has not been released.
Deputies learned that the victim and 51-year-old David Moreno were eating at the restaurant. When they left, the couple got into a fight. The victim got into her vehicle when Moreno walked up and shot her multiple times.
Moreno fled the scene driving what deputies described as a white Toyota RAV-4.
Deputies say that the victim was Moreno's estranged wife.
Authorities are searching for Moreno and warning the public that he may be armed and dangerous.
