Drunk driver crashes while checking text messages, Madera PD says

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Madera police say a drunk driver who was checking his text messages caused a three-car crash.

Officers arrested Pierce Simpson. They say he was the only one hurt in the crash, which happened on Sunset Avenue near Granada Drive overnight. A photo showed major damage to Simpson's vehicle.

Simpson was booked into the Madera County Jail.
